Honolulu Whale Watching Excursions

Experience the magic of Oahu whale watching on one of our unforgettable excursions! Witness Hawaii’s majestic humpback whales as they visit the warm, protected waters around the islands each winter to give birth and nurture their young. From January to March, our whale watching tours on Oahu provide an incredible opportunity to see these magnificent creatures up close as they swim through our coastal waters.

Humpback whales are famous for their spectacular behaviors, including aerial breaches where they leap out of the water and create massive splashes. These behaviors, along with tail slaps and fin waves, make whale watching Oahu an exhilarating experience. While Hawaii’s waters offer a safe haven for raising their calves, humpback whales must make the long migration back to Alaska at the end of winter to feed and replenish their energy. Don’t miss the chance to see these awe-inspiring animals during their time in the islands!

Did you know that adult humpback whales can grow up to 60 feet in length and weigh as much as 40 tons? Despite their massive size, they are graceful swimmers and can travel up to 3,000 miles during their seasonal migrations. These whales are also known for their hauntingly beautiful songs, which can last for hours and are thought to play a role in communication and mating. Their presence in Hawaii’s waters is a critical part of the marine ecosystem, and witnessing their behaviors provides insight into the complex lives of these gentle giants.

The best place to watch whales in Oahu is from a whale watching excursion! The captains on these trips know where to find the whales and will do their best to get you up to 100 yards away from the whales. While 100 yards is the distance boats are legally required to stay away from the whales to keep them safe, and boats are not allowed to purposely put themselves in the path of the whales, if the whales decide to swim towards the boat the captain is required to let the boat drift until the whale swims away creating an unbelievable experience for whale watchers.
